High Ure Mill (now called Candlewyck) was referred to in 1796 as a “candlewick factory” and in 1825 as a “candlewick mill” before appearing as a “candle factory” on the 1st edition OS map.
The beautiful property has many original features, has been lovingly restored over the years and is always cosy thanks to the modern Aga in the kitchen.
Your host at Candlewyck Luxury B&B is Sam, a born and bred local who is passionate about Cumbria and the Lakes. Candlewyck is Sam’s home and sanctuary and she loves to meet guests and make them feel right at home too.
A lover of both antique and modern styles, Sam enjoys making the most of country living and is often seen running over the hills with her dogs early in the morning.
